In cold chain transport, the real challenge is often not “no cold source,” but that cooling is lost too quickly.
Especially in cross-provincial distribution, long-duration transport, and mixed multi-temperature-zone cargo scenarios, once temperature fluctuates, it can lead to cargo damage, returns, complaints, and rising costs.
SuperCooler, as a VIP insulated box manufacturer, uses a passive temperature control solution of vacuum insulation panels (VIP) + phase change cold storage (PCM) + temperature display monitoring, so insulated boxes are not only “able to keep cold,” but also “keep cold longer, keep it stable, and save more cost.”

A complete cold chain insulated box usually consists of three core parts:
1.Insulated box: Mainly provides insulation and delays temperature rise or fall inside the box. The core lies in the thermal conductivity of the insulation panel.
2.Ice packs / coolant: Mainly provides temperature control. The key lies in the phase change point and latent heat of the coolant; different phase change points correspond to different temperature zones.
3.Temperature display: Can be divided into ordinary digital display type and GPRS real-time monitoring alarm type, meeting different transport monitoring needs.

In the SuperCooler VIP vacuum insulated box, VIP vacuum insulation panels and PCM phase change materials have clear roles:
VIP is responsible for “guarding”: as the box enclosure structure, it maximizes isolation from external heat intrusion and reduces cooling loss.
PCM is responsible for “stabilizing”: using the property of absorbing/releasing large amounts of latent heat during phase change, it buffers instantaneous heat loads such as door openings and environmental fluctuations, maintaining stable internal temperature.
VIP itself does not produce cold. Its value lies in making limited cold source “flow steadily like a thin stream.”
The thermal conductivity of insulation materials on the market is roughly as follows:
EPS (0.040 W/(m·K)) > XPS (0.035 W/(m·K)) > EPP (0.030 W/(m·K))
The lower the thermal conductivity, the better the insulation performance.
The insulation performance of Supertech VIP vacuum insulation panels (thermal conductivity as low as 0.002 W/(m·K)) can reach 5–8 times that of polyurethane foam. This means that under the same conditions, cooling is lost more slowly, temperature control time is longer, and it can better handle changing transport environments.
Under infrared thermal imaging, this difference is very intuitive:
After ice plates are placed in the box, the bluer the color, the more severe the cooling leakage. On the left is a VIP insulated box, and on the right is a pure PU insulated box. The VIP box overall has less cooling leakage and more uniform temperature.
With the same amount of ice, PU-VIP insulated boxes usually have more than double the insulation duration of pure PU insulated boxes.

The SuperCooler PCM cold storage insulated box uses multi-temperature-zone phase change materials (PCM), which can achieve, according to different phase change points:
·-25°C to -15°C
·2–8°C
·15–25°C
·and other multi-temperature-zone control.
Phase change cold storage technology not only improves temperature control stability, but also effectively reduces CO₂ emissions, reduces waste, and lowers overall costs. For pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biologics, fresh food, sample transport, and other scenarios, multi-temperature-zone solutions mean more precise, more environmentally friendly, and more economical.
The SuperCooler vacuum insulated box can achieve 96 to 120 hours of insulation duration in the 2–8°C temperature zone (temperature zone and insulation duration customizable). Specific duration varies depending on box specifications, ice pack configuration, ambient temperature, and other factors.
Insulated Box Type | Insulation Duration (2–8°C) |
Pure VIP Insulated Box | 51.10 h |
Fumed Silica VIP Insulated Box | 54.52 h |
PU-VIP Insulated Box | 77.52 h |
Pure PU Box | 39.56 h |
EPP Box | 29.10 h |
EPS Box | 30.1 h |
The temperature test curve compares ambient temperature and the internal temperature of Pure VIP Insulated Box, Fumed Silica VIP Insulated Box, PU-VIP Insulated Box, Pure PU Box, EPP Box, and EPS Box over time (hours).

It sounds like just a number, but for cold chain operations, it means real commercial value:
·Expanded transport radius: What could originally only cover local areas can now be delivered across provinces.
·Reduced ice pack usage: Under the same insulation duration, coolant costs are significantly reduced.
·Smaller box volume: With thermal conductivity reduced from 0.023 W/(m·K) to 0.0025 W/(m·K), box walls can be made thinner and effective volume is larger.
·Lower return rate: More stable temperature control significantly reduces cargo damage complaints.
·Lightweight and easy to handle: User-friendly design reduces operational burden.
This is the real value of VIP vacuum insulated boxes compared with ordinary PU boxes.
One-time investment, long-term benefits.
SuperCooler VIP insulated boxes can be widely used in:
·Pharmaceutical, vaccine, and biologic cold chain transport
·Blood, sample, and diagnostic reagent distribution
·Fresh products, fruits and vegetables, dairy, and frozen food transport
·Temperature-sensitive cargo transport such as chemicals and precision materials
·Multi-temperature-zone, long-distance, cross-provincial cold chain distribution
Making insulated boxes “cold” longer is not just about adding more ice. It is a system upgrade from insulation structure, cold storage materials, to temperature control monitoring.
SuperCooler VIP vacuum insulated boxes use VIP vacuum insulation panels to retain cooling, PCM phase change materials to stabilize temperature, and a temperature display system to protect the entire journey.
Longer insulation duration, lower overall cost, and more stable transport quality bring real cost reduction and efficiency improvement to cold chain operations.
